FAQ
Questions & Answers for Jes:
Why did you decide to become an activist?
I have been an activist for most of my adult life. I started by attending demonstrations to end the war in Vietnam and became more fully engaged when I joined Cesar Chavez and the United Farm Workers.
Have you always been nonviolent?
Have you always been a fan of Mahatma Gandhi?
Do you think nonviolence will be more readily accepted in the future?
Yes. Nonviolence has been proven to be more successful than violence. See the 3 1/2% rule: https://www.bbc.com/future/article/20190513-it-only-takes-35-of-people-to-change-the-world
Are you optimistic about the future?
Yes. It’s no longer possible to ignore how broken our system is, so it’s just a matter of time before people realize how much better off they’d be if they work in unison, rather than independently.
How do you feel about Trump?
He’s probably one of the most despicable people on the planet, but I also wonder if he has a role to play in exposing the corruption and greed of our ruling class.
Why “Purple for Peace”?
Purple brings the “Reds” and “Blues” together. It’s my hope we’ll have a Purple Nation at some point in the future.
What is a “Purple Peace Pod”?
These Pods will be composed of a small number of (6-10) people who want to feel safe and productive. Their mission: to create hundreds and thousands of other Pods for the purpose of moving humanity to a higher level of consciousness.
Do you really see these pods popping up all around the country and the world?
Yes. I think people will be looking for an innovative way to create a more peaceful world, and these pods will provide them with a safe space from which to do this.
